SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France – British BMX racer Kye Whyte was stretchered off after a crash in the men’s semifinals at the Paris Olympics on Friday. The accident happened seconds into his second run when he clipped the back tire of another rider after the first jump.
Whyte had finished fifth in Heat 2 of the first run with a time of 38.808 seconds. Whyte previously won silver in BMX racing at the Tokyo Olympics.
American racer Kamren Larsen also crashed during his second semifinal run but walked off the course after hitting another rider’s elbow on the first turn.
His teammate, Cameron Wood, completed both semifinals and may qualify for the finals. The top eight racers from the 16-racer field after three semifinal runs advance to the finals.
