A terrifying event at the Grand Canyon National Park led to the death of 20-year-old Abel Joseph Mejia from Hickory, North Carolina. Mejia tumbled down 400 feet from the canyon’s rim as per federal authorities; he was found nearly quarter mile on the west side of Pipe Creek Overlook. His body’s discovery occurred on Wednesday.
As per National Park Service, Mejia fell near edge of the canyon. National Park Service in conjunction with Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office is investigating an incident. Visitors are advised by the Park Service to stay on designated trails, keep distances from edges, and obey railings and fences at overlooks.
Abel Mejia attended Indiana Bible College. He was known by all there due to his pleasant smile and kind heart. The college expressed deep sorrow over his loss and extended prayers to his family.
Turning Point Pentecostal Church located in Archbold, Ohio confirmed that Mejia was on a mission trip when he had an accident happened. It called for contributions for help towards entrance arrangement for donors will help them passerby.
